July 2006 - EPA Rejects Access To Site
The EPA have rejected the developers application to put a road through bush land to access the False Cape site based on the grounds the road would cause unacceptable environmental harm. Cairns City Council have to comply with this EPA decision.
The EPA recognised the high conservation value of this bush land – the same bush land that exists on the Reef Cove site on the other side of the boundary fence!
The developer will either try appeal this decision or try find an alternative access route – most likely the road passing in front of the homes of Koombal residents.
